Dock & Bay

Launched in August 2015, Dock & Bay has grown up fast (which is apparently something the founders never did!).

They set out to create the ultimate quick dry beach towel, and now they make not only that, but a range of innovative, high quality, affordable and sustainable products that their customers can’t seem to get enough of – which they are thankful for by the way!

A Brit (Andy) and an Aussie (Ben), started Dock & Bay by drinking too much after work one day. Sharing a passion for travel and not taking themselves too seriously, they pulled down a red curtain from the wall and stuck pieces of white paper to it, creating their first towel design with their now iconic stripes.

And the rest, as they say, is history....

As well as appearing on the popular BBC TV show Dragon’s Den, they were super excited to be selected as one of the Sunday Times Fast Track - Ones to Watch 2019 and in 2020 they came 13th (now their lucky number) in the Start-Ups 100 list. Not too bad for two guys who stuck strips of paper on a red curtain, eh?

Doing Their Bit

Dock & Bay understand how important it is to take actionable steps towards a more sustainable future.

They know that nobody is perfect, including them. In the last few years they have begun making gradual changes that minimise their environmental impact & giving back to causes they care about.

It's all about living their values and creating a brand that future generations will be proud of.

Since the start of 2021, all their products have been made from 100% recycled materials, and all packing is biodegradable.

They will be donating 5% of their net profits to charities they care about. Their chosen partners for 2022 are Smiley and the Rainforest Alliance.

As an additional part of their charity work in 2020, they created reusable face masks from their towel material and donated 25% of the proceeds to The Red Cross*

They donated a whopping £35,000 to support their work during the global pandemic.

*Donation made to The British Red Cross when purchased from UK/EU and The American Red Cross when purchased from the US.

All of their products and packaging are now made from 100% recycled materials. Just as quick drying but better for the environment - win, win!

In collaboration with WDC they launched their first towel made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic in Oct '19. On top of that, 20% of sales from this went to WDC charity. Dock & Bay also won the Third Sector Business Charity Awards for their collaboration with WDC. They're pretty proud to see the money they raised with the help of their customers make such a difference.
